The Peoples Daily was founded on July 18, 1933 and is the oldest existing Chinese daily newspaper in Macau.
During the Anti-Japanese War, it adhered to its national stance, and after the founding of the Peoples Republic of China, it has long adhered to the policy of running a newspaper that is patriotic and loves Macao.

During the Anti-Japanese War, Dazhong Daily, together with the academic, sports, and music circles, formed the "Four Worlds Disaster Relief Association" to raise funds in various forms to support the domestic Anti-Japanese War.
It ceased publication from 1947 to 1948, and resumed publication in 1948 under the leadership of Cai Lingshuang.Cai Lingshuang died of illness in March 1973, and Cai Keming succeeded him as president; in November 1974, he switched to offset printing.
The Portuguese version of a Chinese newspaper was first established in 1982, and the Zhuhai Special Economic Zone edition was added in 1984, which was successively distributed to Zhuhai, Zhongshan and other places.
In 1996, it was approved by the Ministry of Culture of Taiwan, China for public distribution in Taiwan, China.
In 2023, it was approved by the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council to be established in Zhuhai.

In 1993, Huang Yuguang took over as president and fully used computer phototypesetting systems and color printing, producing two large sheets of paper every day.
